We are both arctic countries and Norway is keenly interested in northern realities and how these are reflected here in Canada. Canada and Norway enjoy an exceptionally good and close relationship, and the numerous bonds between individuals and the history we share strengthen this relationship. As the Norwegian ambassador to Canada, it is my privilege to be contributing and further develop the relationship between Canada and Norway. The excellent bilateral relations to Canada remain of the highest importance to Norway.

Consulates

There are several Norwegian Honorary Consulates in Canada.

Honorary Consuls are appointed by the Norwegian Government, but are usually nationals of the host country, in our case, Canada.

As the title implies, the Consuls do not receive a salary from the Norwegian Government, but have agreed to represent Norway in their region on a voluntary basis. Their main task is to promote Norwegian interests and further Norwegian-Canadian co-operation in their region.

The Honorary Consules often have dealings with Norway through their day-to day business, and can provide advice and assistance in relations with Norwegian authorities, institutions or individuals. It goes without saying that they also provide assistance and advice to Norwegians in their dealings in Canada.
Please find contact information for each consulate in the following list:

Despite some later additions, Crichton Lodge remains the original Gothic Revival villa built during the 1880s and owned by Thomas McLeod Clark, Thomas McKay’s son-in-law. Clark moved his family there sometime after the death of his wife, Jessie, in 1880. The house was named after Jessie’s mother, Ann Crichton.
