Camp Norway Foundation

Following the Camp Norway reunion that took place in 1994, a non-profit organisation called The Camp Norway Foundation was set up under the laws of Canada. The purpose of the foundation is to make better known the contributions of the allied merchant fleets in the Second World War, with special emphasis on the vital part played by the Norwegians. The foundation is also encouraging the study of maritime subjects.

The Foundation has sponsored the writing, and translation of a book about Camp Norway. The profits from the sale of the book and any other funds raised by the Foundation go into a scholarship fund. The income from this fund will be awarded to a university student - or students - studying the history of the Second World War or Maritime history.

Thanks to the kind co-operation of the Board of Directors and the curator, Ralph Getson, of the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic, the Foundation was able to install a permanent Camp Norway exhibit which is proving quite popular with visitors.

All information was gathered by V.R. Pittman for the Camp Norway Foundation. Some editing has taken place.
