Pakistan is experiencing its worst floods in 80 years. According to the UN, over a million people are affected by the flooding, and reports suggest that almost 1100 people have lost their lives. “Norway is providing NOK 30 million to support emergency relief efforts during this critical phase,” Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said.

In 1960 the discovery and excavations in L’Anse aux Meadows, Newfoundland started due to the meeting between Helge Ingstad of Norway and George Decker of L’Anse aux Meadows. Together they discovered the only authenticated Viking site in North America. Years of excavations and research followed. Today, 50 years later, it is time to celebrate this important historical discovery.
