Norwegian furniture design is part of the Scandinavian tradition of simplicity and distinctive design with slim dimensions. One distinctive mark for Norwegian design is the focus on ergonomics - the product should not only be pleasing to the eye, but also comfortable and practical.

Hjellegjerde
The two Hellegjerde brothers founded this company in the fjord side in the Sykkylven district and that is where the company head quarters are located today, 70 years later. Hjellegjerde is inspired by Norwegian landscape and the robust and generous nature of the country. Their key philosophy is to find the meeting point between tradition and innovation. Hjellegjerde is known globally for making chairs and living room furniture with cutting edge design from cold cured molded foam with Active Release head support.
Hødnebø - Spinnaker
A cruising sailboat is a spectacular sight and confirms that mankind is subject to the laws of nature. The ambition was to create an easy chair in contemporary design with an unrivalled sitting comfort. The result is the Spinnaker chair. The Spinnaker Collection includes the Spinnaker Chair, Scandia Chair and the Relax Chair. The rustic yet understated design lends to its adaptability in any environment. The Spinnaker chair is a modern and luxurious Norwegian lounger. Inspired by the cruising sail, Spinnaker, the spring-loaded chair allows customers to settle into the most comfortable angle possible. Oleana
OLEANA - the Norwegian Story is a small ethically run textile company on the west coast of Norway. The designer, Solveig Hisdal, specializes in knitwear with elaborate floral designs. She also has designed a series of blankets, woven by RorosTweed.
So-Ro
The so-ro cradle - the cradle with forward movement, have won 2010 Award for Design Excellence from the Norwegian Design Council. It is designed to have forward movement because according to research of the brain's interpretation of sensory input, forward movement is the most comfortable and soothing motion for the baby. It is a combination of modern Scandinavian design and proper therapeutic function to create a product which forms a simple and harmonious life
VAD – Value Added Design
VAD AS is a is a family owned company going back five generations and located in Stordal on the North-West coast. VAD is Value Added Design (as well as the family name of the owners) that combines Norwegian traditions with high ambitions and desire for new solutions. At IDS12 VAD will feature Convita, the true zero gravity chair, manufactured in Norway. This elegant design chair gives a free fall feeling, providing optimal relaxation. Convita is designed by Svein Asbjørnsen/sapDesign and produced by VAD.
