Set in the idyllic Rideau Park, the Governor General’s Winter Celebration successfully took place on Saturday 28th of January, welcoming over 2800 visitors. Blessed with lovely weather, representatives from a handful of countries participated in the festival, bringing together the best of winter activities and local cuisine. Read more

The Royal Norwegian Embassy in partnership with The Royal Canadian Geographical Society and Winterlude are hosting a seminar on our shared polar history February 6th at Libraries and Archives Canada, Ottawa. The Director of the Fram Museum in Oslo, Geir Kløver, and Norwegian-Canadian polar explorer Sunniva Soriby will give presentations. Read more

Norwegian artist Anne Senstad’s The Kinesthesia of Saint Brigid will be on display at St. Brigid’s Centre for the Arts from 29 January to 17 February 2012. The work has been adapted to overlay St Brigid’s organ, and bring it to life with morphing colors and four channel surround sound composed by JG Thirlwell. Read more

The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Ottawa and the Canadian Nordic Society are co-hosting a special Speakers’ event featuring the noted Norwegian anthropologist, Professor Benedicte Ingstad, who will give a presentation on the discovery by her parents and follow-up research on ancient Viking settlement site at L’Anse aux Meadows in Newfoundland. Audiences in Montreal will have the opportunity to listen to award-winning Norwegian guitarist Kim Myhr perform in the World Premiere of "Plans d'immanence"; a composition by Canadian viola da gamba player Pierre-Yves Martel at Chapelle Historique du Bon-Pasteur, December 3rd and 4th this year. Myhr will also have a solo show at Casa del Popolo on November 30th. Read more

Two video art works by New York based, Norwegian artist Anne Katrine Senstad will feature in the multi-site group exhibition Preternatural. Senstad has been exhibiting her work internationally for over twenty years, but this will be the first time her work has been shown in Canada. Read more

Norwegian Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Mr. Ola Borten Moe, gave a presentation about Norwegian energy production entitled “Energy in Norway: Looking Northwards” at University of Ottawa Wednesday November 2nd. Read more

Norwegian Film Maker Ole Gjerstad, based in Montreal, is the writer and co-director of Qimmit: A Clash of Two Truths. The film is a search for truth in the killings of Inuit sled dogs in the Canadian Arctic in the 1950s and 1960s. Read more
