The Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest is finally here – this time with a Norwegian artist playing two nights in a row. The Festival has already started and will continue to fill the streets of Ottawa with music until Sunday July 18.

The Norwegian blues artist Bjørn Berge, the winner of two Norwegian Grammy awards (Spellemannsprisen), will be entering the stage on July 17 and July 18. Bjørn Berge is, according to the festival program, “probably the Norwegian blues-artist who, more than others, dares to follow his own paths in order to find his personal music medium of expression.”  Berge has just released his 10th album which is called “Fretwork” – a whole album consisting of original acoustic songs. His acoustic talents make this CD into yet another wonderful experience for those who love blues and the beauty of acoustic guitars.

Berge has not only made a career in Norway, but also internationally. He has played in a number of countries such as Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, France, and the U.S. He is now bound for Ottawa, Canada. This might be your perfect chance of figuring out whether it is true what is stated on Berge’s homepage, namely that his concerts are “THE acoustic guitar event of the decade”.

Berge will stage the scene in Ottawa on July 17 at 3:00pm (MBNA Stage) and then again on Sunday July 18 at 4:00pm (The Barney Danson Theatre).
