Norwegian Film Maker Ole Gjerstad, based in Montreal, is the writer and co-director of Qimmit: A Clash of Two Truths. The film is a search for truth in the killings of Inuit sled dogs in the Canadian Arctic in the 1950s and 1960s.

Ole Gjerstad traveled the seven seas, mined for silver and logged giant Canadian timber before becoming an anthropologist, writer, radio broadcaster and filmmaker. He founded Words & Pictures Videos/Vidéos mots & images in Montreal in 1992 and co-founded Piksuk Media in 2005. His some 60 documentaries have won many awards in Canada and abroad.

In his film Qimmit: A Clash of Two Truths from 2010, he looks into the disappearance of thousands of sled dogs in the arctic in the 1950's, 60's, and 70's and tries to find an answer to this mystery that has so many wondering. Did the RCMP have anything to do with it, or was it just a natural consequence of the changes in Inuit lifestyle.

The Film will be screened at the Arts Court Theatre in Ottawa at 7pm, Wednesday Oct. 5th. Free Of Charge.
