Fribo is a Nu-Nordic group based out of Edinburgh in Great Britain. Their music can be defined as folk music which at the same time is experimental. Fribo will be playing at three Canadian festivals this summer, two in the Vancouver area and one in Calgary.

The lead singer Anne Sofie Linge Valdal is the only Norwegian in the group. She is playing together with the Scottish fiddler Hannah Read and the English born Ewan MacPherson on guitar. Another Scandinavian, the Swedish percussionist Magnus Lundmark, just recently started cooperating with the group and added another Scandinavian touch to it.

The group Fribo, which means “open house,” dates back to 2003 when the trio gathered around an old Edinbourgh kitchen table and started creating exciting music together. The group has since then continued to explore contemporary sounds and rhythms, but also reinforcing historical British-Scandinavian traditions.

The group has played in a number of different countries such as the UK, the US, Norway, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands. The group is now ready for the Canadian Music scene.
