Music: Kim Myhr to Montreal

Audiences in Montreal will have the opportunity to listen to award-winning Norwegian guitarist Kim Myhr perform in the World Premiere of "Plans d'immanence"; a composition by Canadian viola da gamba player Pierre-Yves Martel at Chapelle Historique du Bon-Pasteur, December 3rd and 4th this year. Myhr will also have a solo show at Casa del Popolo on November 30th.

Kim Myhr (born 1981) is an active voice on the Norwegian creative music scene with regular performances across Europe, Australia, Asia and America.
In 2008, he received the JazZtipend at the Molde International Jazz Festival. The prize included a commission for Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, a large ensemble consisting of thirteen handpicked improvisers from Norway and Australia, featuring Sidsel Endresen, Clare Cooper, Jim Denley and Christian Wallumrød among others. The one-hour piece, which was later released on CD entitled «stems and cages», received wide critical acclaim. The piece was performed at the FIMAV festival in Victoriaville, Canada in may last year, and was called "some of this year's best moments" by Allaboutjazz.com and named the festival highlight by Jazz Tokyo.

Another important project for Myhr is the trio MURAL, with Jim Denley and Ingar Zach. The group just released Live at the Rothko Chapel on Rothko Chapel Publications, the first time the Rothko Chapel ever released music.  Myhr's first solo recording will be out on SOFA in April 2012.

"Kim Myhr appears as one of the most interesting guitarists in the improvised music world"
 - Johan Redin, Sound of Music
