State Secretary Roger Ingebrigtsen will give a public lecture at the University of Ottawa on November 25th at 9.30am.

Norway and Canada share strategic interests in the High North. As NATO members both countries are involved in Afghanistan and in the recent successfully accomplished operation in Libya.

In his lecture, State Secretary Ingebrigtsen will present Norway’s view on security challenges in the High North and on Norway’s extensive and important relationship to Russia. Ingebrigtsen will also discuss current NATO issues towards the Chicago summit.

During the tragic terrorist attacks in Oslo and at Utøya on 22 July this year, Mr. Ingebrigtsen was both professionally and personally involved. His family was directly affected as Mr. Ingebrigtsens stepdaughter was severely injured during the shooting drama on Utøya. Mr. Ingebrigtsen will therefore also talk on Norway’s response to terrorism.

Roger Ingebrigtsen has been State Secretary in the Norwegian Ministry of Defence since 2010. He has also been State Secretary for Culture from 2009 to 2010. Other political experience includes Political Adviser in the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development from 1992-1996 and Leader of the Labor Party in Troms from 2006-2010. Outside politics, Ingebrigtsen has been working as a Journalist and Communications Director. Roger Ingebrigtsen is married and has two children.

Coffee and morning snacks will be offered.
