The Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (DFAIT) offers a variety of grants open to Norwegian citizens and organizations in order to support Canada-Norway bilateral academic relations.

THE UNDERSTANDING CANADA PROGRAM
The Understanding Canada Program consists of a comprehensive set of grants designed to enable foreign international academics to develop and teach courses about Canada, or to undertake research in their own discipline about an aspect of Canada, leading to publication in Canadian and foreign scholarly presses.
Canadian Studies programmes in Norway are well developed and supported by the Nordic Association for Canadian Studies (NACS). The aim of the association is to promote Canadian studies in the five Nordic Countries: Denmark (including Greenland), Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. Today, the Association counts more than 320 members and a wide visability in more than twenty Nordic universities through official representatives and members.
